Frequently asked questions
The questions Cris is asked most. If yours isn't here, ask a question or try the helper in the corner.
HMA basics
What is a hair mineral analysis?
A hair mineral analysis (HMA) is a lab test that measures the minerals in a small hair sample. Because hair grows slowly, the sample reflects the past few months rather than a single day. Cris uses the patterns in your results to guide food, lifestyle and supplement suggestions. It's educational: it doesn't diagnose or treat any medical condition.
Which lab runs the test?
CanAlt Laboratories in Canada. If CanAlt referred you here, choosing any of the four HMA options on the services page will set up your test with them.
How much hair do I need, and from where?
A small amount, usually a tablespoon's worth, taken close to the scalp from the back of the head. The instructions you receive after purchase show exactly how to collect it, and what to do if your hair is very short, coloured or treated.
Which option should I choose?
If you want the data and a clear written explanation, choose the HMA Report. If you'd like to go through your results with Cris and leave with a direction, the HMA Starter is the usual starting point. The Dedicated Personalized Plan adds a written protocol, and the 12-week Program adds coaching calls and messaging while you put it into practice. The three-question picker on the services page will suggest one.
Timelines
How long until I get my results?
It depends on where you are and the lab's current turnaround. Allow time for the kit to reach you, for your sample to reach the lab, and for the analysis itself. Cris lets you know as soon as the results arrive.
When can I book my results-review call?
Once your results are in and your account is paid in full, you'll receive a private booking link by email. Each link works once, so no one can book a call they haven't paid for.
Shipping
Do you ship kits outside Canada?
Yes. Clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and India regularly complete the test. International shipping takes longer each way, and you're responsible for posting your sample to the lab.
How do I send my sample to the lab?
The instructions include the lab's address and packaging guidance. Use a tracked service if you can, especially from outside Canada.
Payments
Which currencies can I pay in?
CAD or USD. The site shows CAD to visitors in Canada and USD everywhere else, and you can switch with the toggle in the header. The checkout uses the currency shown.
How do payment plans work?
The Dedicated Personalized Plan and the 12-week Program can be paid in two equal instalments at no extra cost. The second is charged automatically to the same card 30 days after the first. Your results-review call becomes bookable once both are paid.
Is my card information safe?
Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own secure pages. Nourish Align Renew never sees or stores your card details.
Will I be charged tax?
Any applicable tax is shown at checkout before you pay.
Cancellations and refunds
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are final once payment is made and work has begun, because the lab fee, the kit and Cris's time are committed at that point; you acknowledge this on the agreement page before paying. If you live in the EU or UK you have a 14-day right to cancel anything not yet performed. Full details are in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
How do I cancel a membership?
Open the membership portal, sign in with your email and choose cancel. Your membership stays active until the end of the month you've paid for, then stops. Nothing further is charged and there's no proration.
What if I need to reschedule a call?
Use the link in your confirmation email to reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice. Missed calls without notice are forfeited.
Privacy
What information does the website collect?
Only what a purchase needs: your name, email, billing country and your acceptance of the agreement. Card details go to Stripe. No health information is collected on this website, in the contact form, in booking pages or in the chat helper; those details are discussed privately once you're a client. See the Privacy Policy.
Are sessions recorded?
With your consent, given in the client agreement, calls may be recorded so Cris can prepare an accurate summary for you. Recordings are handled privately and are never shared.
